In this role, he ensures that stories meet high standards of storytelling, clarity, accuracy, quality, fairness and balance, while avoiding libel, defamation and use infringement issues. He works with editors, producers and senior news executives to make sure completed stories meet platform/show needs. He places particular emphasis on supporting DC-based work, including the Facts First team. Before this, Hogan was the managing editor at New America, a think tank and civic enterprise in Washington, D.C. He oversaw the editorial, production, events and communications teams. He had a prior 20-year stint at CNN in a variety of editorial and production roles, including executive producer and bureau chief. He has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
