PodCatalyst Episode 37: Ed Cook on Finding Joy in Change at Work
by: Ed Cook

Can change bring joy? Ed Cook, co-founder of The Change Decision, believes so — and has years of experience and the data to back it up.

Tune in to the latest episode of PodCatalyst, where Ed discusses how change can drive energy, boost morale and make people feel more connected to their work.

Prior to co-founding The Change Decision, Ed worked at a major U.S. bank. In this episode, he shares how he found himself leading a project that was over budget and past deadline, but was able to use change management tactics to turn around morale and improve the company’s culture.

Today, Ed focuses on academic research to determine what joy at work means and helps companies implement it, whether they’re a team of three or 300.

Ed Cook

Ed Cook is the co-founder of The Change Decision LLC, a change and culture consultancy focused on growing joy at work. The Change Decision seeks to make teams more effective by blending the science of decision analysis with the art of change management. Cook holds a PhD in systems modeling and analysis, focused on applying game theory and network analysis to decision-making. He employs his analytics expertise as a visiting professor at the University of Richmond’s MBA and undergraduate program.

Cook also served in the Navy and Navy Reserves. During his time in the Reserves, he worked extensively on employment initiatives for the people of Iraq, bridging across the U.S. military, the US Embassy, and the Government of Iraq. Cook’s efforts helped create micro-loans to start new businesses and training to improve job skills; he was awarded the Bronze Star for his efforts.

Upon returning to the states, and prior to co-founding The Change Decision, Cook worked the next few years to implement large process and infrastructure changes for a major U.S. bank.
