Barbara Puffer MA, ABC, IABC Fellow

Barbara Puffer MA, ABC, IABC Fellow, opened Puffer Public Relations in 1998 after a 25-year corporate career. Simultaneously, she was associate professor of communications studies for University of Maryland University College, now UM’s Global Campus, for 13 years, and a contributing writer to an online health news service. Her expertise includes communications, advertising and community/media relations management in banking, telecommunications, insurance, nonprofit organizations and manufacturing. She was named an IABC Fellow in 2012. For nearly five decades, she has served in leadership roles for IABC at all levels of the organization including the international board, chair of the IABC Ethics Committee and chair of the IABC Research Foundation. She has received numerous awards including IABC Region Director of the Year, as well as for her teaching and nonprofit leadership. She is an inductee to both the University of Bridgeport Alumni and Special Olympics (Connecticut) Halls of Fame.
