Message From the Chair: Continuing the Conversation on Climate
by: Alain Legault, MA , SCMP

I’m quite proud of “Catalyst for Climate,” this special edition of Catalyst — proud of IABC to tackle this important issue, not as an advocate of one side or another, but as communicators asking how we should deal with this, how we should contribute to the clarity of the message.

The discussion around climate is complex — one of humanity, the communities we live in and the businesses we serve. Just recently, Reuters reported the 10 most expensive climate events have taken place in the past five years alone, adding up to 1.5 trillion USD. This is and will be a defining issue of our times.

As I revisited each piece, I was quite enthusiastic about the work that went into it: thought-provoking articles, a podcast on ESG, an interview with a NASA scientist, a Pocket Trend with eye-opening stats … a wide variety of ways to talk about our role as communicators.

If you haven’t explored the series yet, take a look below at the great work featured. I encourage you to dive in and be wowed! A special thanks to our contributors: Zora Artis, Danielle Bond, Suneiah Cullen, Mike Klein, Kamyar Naficy and Dr. Marco Tedesco. And thanks to you, our readers, for engaging with these ideas, sharing with your networks and keeping the conversation going.
