Dentsply Sirona is the world’s largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, with over a century of innovation and service to the dental industry and patients worldwide. An employee engagement survey indicated low overall engagement of employees and a noteworthy number of actively disengaged employees. In addition, it revealed weak cascading of key messages by leaders to various levels across the organization. The survey revealed that due to ineffective leadership communication about our mission and purpose, employees struggled to make a connection between their role and the ultimate impact of their work.
Therefore, the communication team proposed a strong penetration of the purpose, mission, vision and operating principles to improve engagement, as well as reinforcing culture. To foster engagement, over a 24-hour span, CEO Don Casey and his management team hosted an all-company event that focused on promoting the company’s culture and purpose. In 24, one-hour timeslots, executive leaders addressed employees in a total of 90 global locations via live video stream with simultaneous translation in a total of ten languages. In each of the sessions tailored specifically for each region, employees also had the opportunity to speak directly to senior leadership and ask location-specific questions.
